Time to teach Politicians that No means No

Published on July 18th, 2011

Have you ever noticed how the political class seems to ignore boundaries? Easy word really, comes from the 17th Century meaning “limits.”  Wow, limits, are you kidding? Seems our politicians don’t comprehend perimeters, only plunder. We say “stop” and they just keep pawing and pushing the limits. Now, they seem utterly capable setting confinement or “legal limits” on you and me with their barrage of laws and regulations. Truth be told, they’ll grow like weeds if you let them. Ever notice just how proficient they are drawing lines when it comes to gerrymandering and their own survival.

Funny how that works. We say “no” and they respond, “we know what’s best for the American people.”  Ever get tired of hearing that phrase?

We have a “Lock Box” but Social Security was raided long ago. Ask the folks in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona how “border security” is working out for them and now the ubiquitous debate over a “debt ceiling” that has, near as I can tell, ALWAYS been raised. Talk about the need for “Term Limits” but only for the President? Seems Congress has authority over us and barely any over themselves.

As we should, we counsel young men in our country, “No means No” and that there are boundaries we must always honor. When someone asks you to stop, you stop. Plain and simple.

Perhaps we need to send our groping politicians to a remedial class, reminding them of what happens when we ultimately reach our last straw.

Great article and a great point that we should all rally around.
