Homegrown Terrorist Attacks and how to defeat them

Published on September 25th, 2009

In the last 36 hours we have learned of multiple terrorist attempts to attack us, not oversees, but rather right here at home. Hosam Maher Husein Smadi targets a skyscraper in Dallas, Texas. Michael C. Finton, also known as “Talib Islam,” tries to hit a courthouse in Springfield, Illinois. Najibullah Zazi wanted to destroy multiple targets in Denver and New York City.

At the international level, Iranian “President” Ahmadinejad calls for the destruction of Israel at the same time asking other nations to sell the rogue leader enriched uranium. Nice.

So how do we walk the fine line between being paranoid and practical, between intimidated and informed?

First off, law enforcement agencies from across the country, and at multiple levels, have thwarted these initial attempts. Secondly, the only way to ultimately combat paranoia and intimidation is to be personally prepared; ready to face whatever an emergency situation may throw at us.

Bottom line. More  terrorist plans are in the making. Sadly, sooner or later  there efforts will turn effective, an attempt will become an attack.

The choice is always ours: panicked or poised?
