On Tax Day I’m Heading for My Version of a T-Party

I don’t need to tell you what today is, at least for those of us living in the United States. Perhaps, next to your birthday and New Years Eve, April 15th stands indelibly in American minds. It’s time to square up with Uncle Sam.

Now that my taxes are in the mail, I figured that there is no better time to talk about the Tea Party, or better yet, my version of a T-Party. I’m headed to the Mid Atlantic Truck Camper Rally in Sanford, Virginia.

Truck camping, or T-partying is one of my favorite ways to explore. My first exploration of Denali National Park in Alaska was in a fully stocked Lance truck camper. I spent 10 days adventuring in one of the coolest places on earth with my good friend and renowned photographer/videographer Michael Mauro.

From that moment on I was hooked. Unlike other forms of RV’ing, T-Partying allows me to get off the road and off the beaten path. To me, that’s what exploration is all about.

It’s a Busy Morning Here at the Lance Camper Booth

We kicked off our opening day here at the 46th Annual RV Trade Show with a few TV appearances including WHAS ABC and WLKY CBS here in Louisville. Tomorrow morning we are proud to host WDRB FOX for their morning news show here at the Kentucky Exposition Center.

Now, when it comes to print media I want to mention Marliyn from The Elkhart Truth. Marilyn and I spent some time together on Monday as I gave her a tour of the ‘Green RV.’

Also, it was my pleasure meeting Gordon White from Truck Camper Magazine for the first time. We have spoken a few times in the past but this was our first, in person meeting. I truly enjoy learning from him.

From the moment I was first introduced to Gordon White, his passion was obvious. Over the last 6 months I’ve learned that his knowledge of truck camping, adventure and traveling the open road is equally profound and contagious. I am very glad to have our paths cross once again. Gordon is premiering the Mobile Base Camp video on Truck Camper Magazine.com. The video highlights my Lance Camper and some of the technologies that allow me to go off road and off the grid, to go farther, going greener.

I am very excited about the opportunity to learn and take suggestions (and criticism) from Truck Camper Magazine readers as I grow from a novice truck camper to a seasoned, veteran RVer.

Truck Camper Magazine and Gordon White Highlight Rickson Truck Wheels

I first learned of Rickson Truck Wheels from Jack Cole and Norm Jacobson of Lance Camper. We were having breakfast one morning in Lancaster, California when they told me of the many benefits Rickson Truck Wheels would bring to the rig. Within two weeks my friend and associate John Burgess had arranged to have the Mobile Base Camp outfitted by Dan and the crew at Rickson. What a difference they make everyday. A huge difference actually! Now, thanks to Gordon White of Truck Camper Magazine, you can see behind the scenes, from start to finish, of the detailed process that goes into designing, manufacturing, mounting and balancing every Rickson Truck Wheel. They are an integral part of the 2008 Wonder Explore Believe National Tour.
