It has been my goal to travel North America discovering wild places, down the open road and off the beaten path, all the while reporting on breaking news, commentary and techniques for surviving and thriving in the 21st Century. An importing part of that adventure is my Mobile Base Camp, a Lance Truck Camper powered by the natural energies of the sun, wind and rain.

An additional component in reporting my explorations and interviews falls into the category of both the BuriedLogic Audio blog posts and the BuriedLogic Podcasts. Thanks to the technology from the satellite experts MotoSat Advanced Mobile Satellite Systems I am now able to do so from anywhere I go. The new F2 DataStorm from MotoSat was installed on The Mobile Base Camp yesterday at their facilities in Salt Lake City.

Sign up for BuriedLogic Podcast

Keith McCord from KSL TV 5 here in Salt Lake stopped by to cover the installation and learn from Royal Lamb about the company, its people and the professionals that make it all happen.

I had the opportunity to attend my first FMCA Rally in Bowling Green, Ohio for their 82nd Annual International Convention. It was a busy day and I had a blast hanging out with everyone who stopped by the Green RV to say Hello!

I want to thank Nadine from Thetford and Royal Lamb from Motosat who, as always, came by to ensure my Rig’s satellite connectivity is functioning top notch!

I’m now headed to Salt Lake City for Outdoor Retailer and am looking forward to hanging with one of my favorite reporters, Keith McCord from KSL!

Looking back over the 2008 Wonder Explore Believe Tour, it’s clear that I could have done a much better job [...]

Looking back over the 2008 Wonder Explore Believe Tour, it’s clear that I could have done a much better job sharing my adventure. Most times I was too busy doing, to make time for reporting. In 2009 I will do a significantly better job communicating via my blog, audio and video podcasts along with my Twitter , FaceBook , and MySpace accounts and my SPOT unit.

To that end, with thanks for the suggestion of my good friend Photographer Michael Mauro , I will be using my iPhone in a much larger degree to update these formats in a substantially timelier fashion. With the addition of the MotoSAT system, I will no longer be hampered by location in updating the website as well.

The 2009 Conservation through Exploration Tour took a huge leap forward over the holiday with the installation of the Xantrex RS3000 Sine Wave Inverter/Charger along with the Xantrex C40 Multi-Function Charge Controller. It was my good fortune to spend a few days earlier this week with Don Wilson from Xantrex learning about the energy management system that will enable me to power and recharge ALL electrical devices on board the Green RV with the natural energies of the sun and wind. I stopped by his office in Elkhart , Indiana just following the taping of a news segment for WSBT – please see the video ‘How to Green your RV ‘ posted on my YouTube page.

Over the next 10 days I will be finalizing the Conservation through Exploration Tour and creating specific ways for everyone interested to be more involved in all aspects of the journey.

In advance of my appearance at Happy Trails RV here in Nampa, Idaho I kicked off the day with Lincoln Graves from KIVI ABC 6. Lincoln is passionate about “Green concerns” and spent three segments covering the various environmentally friendly aspects of my Lance Camper. We talked solar, wind and rain/snow harvesting both inside and out of the Mobile Base Camp. I also want to mention Jeff from KIVI. He is as talented a videographer as I have worked with. He brought a professionalism you don’t normally find in morning TV.

It always helps keeping up with local breaking news and thanks to my new G74 from MotoSAT. This was the first time I was able to track the local stations website live, while on air.

I spent the day into the evening with Royal Lamb of MotoSAT Advanced Mobile Satellite Systems here in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is as sharp as he is passionate.

The factory is an amazing place and I easily could have spent much more time meeting and talking to the team of professionals Royal introduced me to. Throughout the tour I couldn’t help focusing on the cutting-edge technologies that manufacture the cutting-edge technologies. The average MotoSAT Satellite has over 450 parts which are all designed, manufactured and assembled on some of the most amazing machinery right here at the factory; US made and tested all over the world, what a great combination!

Now, with the installation complete, I will be able to upload our audio and video podcasts in a much more timely fashion from the actual field locations where the content is produced. Again, all powered by the natural energies of the sun and the wind and now brought to you by the mobile connectivity of MotoSAT.

Tomorrow’s blog post will have a photo of the new MotoSAT technology atop the Mobile Base Camp.

What a week. Long days of early call times with even later evenings. Looking back over my first RV Show, [...]

What a week. Long days of early call times with even later evenings. Looking back over my first RV Show, I was very fortunate to meet and learn from some RV Experts and a handful of extremely smart folks. In the days ahead I will be implementing some of what I learned by incorporating these companies and their technologies into the Mobile Base Camp for the 2009 national tour.

First, a very special thanks to Jack Cole and Norm Jacobson from Lance Camper. Not only did they invite me into their home but our technical discussions will lead to the snow melting procedures I will use this winter when the temperatures up north make harvesting rainwater a bit of a challenge.

I want to also mention Bob Livingston from Affinity Group. He always challenges me to push the envelope and think of cutting edge ways of doing things with the Mobile Base Camp. His passion is as contagious as it is inspiring.

I can’t thank Steven and Don from Xantrex enough for their time and expertise in helping educate me and creating an amazing design for the Green RV’s energy management system (the brains of the operation) in utilizing the energy generated by the Kyocera PV’s and the Air Breeze wind turbine. I am blown away by their knowledge as well as the Xantrex products that will keep me off the beaten path and off the grid.

With Alaska now just two short weeks away, the conversation I had with Kip from Atwood Mobile Products about their revolutionary Excalibur XT two stage heater will not only help with the comfort level inside the rig but with energy conservation as well. This amazing heating system is fine-tuned to only use the power it truly needs to get the job done; not a drop more.

Terry from Fantastic Vent brought me up to speed on both the thermal domes I will need in this winter exploration season and the best way to employ my three Fantastic Vent Units already on board.

On the safety side of the vehicle, Wayne from RoadMaster Inc designed the perfect system of steering and stabilization. I cannot think of a better way to complement the SuperSprings and Rickson Truck Wheels.

When it comes to “Bringing the far away to your own front door”, Transfer Flow has made it possible for me this year. Ben continues to teach me how to be as efficient as possible in doing so. In the hunt for biodiesel, my fuel tank is one of my most important tools.

I am also very excited about my time with Nadine and Mary from Thetford. Their new EPA Certified & award winning products are worthy of all of our attention and applause.

Dave from Hamsar Diversico knows his stuff. HIs streamlined plan for rig-wide LED lighting is going to make a huge difference in the Green RV. Just wait and see.

Royal from MotoSAT is helping me keep abreast of the latest breaking wherever I am. He stayed late two evenings to help hook me up with HDTV.

I also want to thank the entire team at Go RVing and RVIA for making me feel right at home in a Show and an industry that I am brand new.
