The one word Progressives hate the most

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” according to the Declaration of Independence.

1. Life….if you are here reading these words, you’ve been given Life.

2. Liberty….the optimal and natural state of affairs or “operating system” for Human Beings, free from most interference while you are on this planet.

3. Pursuit of Happiness…YOU must pursue it in your own way, on your own terms, setting and achieving you own self-dictated goals while securing your personal happiness.

The Declaration of Independence does not state…Life, Liberty and Happiness….the “pursuit” is the gem in the paragraph.

“Leaning forward” types misread the document by suggesting that happiness in a noun, a “thing” the “collective” should be given, they have a right to it. The rest of us realize that the pursuit of happiness is a self-imposed verb, something to be achieved, not accepted. It’s an action, not a handout. Some among us don’t care much for the word “pursuit.” Want to piss off a Progressive? Remind them that We the People have a “right” to pursue nearly anything we want. What we do not have is the right to expect someone else to pursue happiness for us and then extort a portion of it from them.

In fairness, Dems do it. The GOP does it. It’s done for individuals and corporations alike and it is contrary to nature itself and the very spirit of our founding. When our Constitution gave the Congress the power to provide for the “general welfare” it did so expecting future legislators to provide and secure a truly level playing field where one and all can pursue their own happiness.

Sen. Reid accuses Sen. Paul of Supporting Terrorists

Here we go again. Sen. Harry “Cowboy Poetry” Reid is accusing Sen. Rand Paul of supporting terrorists. That’s right, Harry is at it again. Reid blathered on, according to the Los Angeles Times article accusing Sen. Paul of, “fighting for an amendment to protect the right – not of average citizens, but of terrorists – to cover up their gun” purchases. “IF he thinks that it’s going to be a badge of courage on his side to have held this up for a few hours, he’s made a mistake.”

So standing up for rights and liberties secured by Our Constitution while speaking out against the Patriot Act makes you a terrorist sympathizer in the eyes of Harry Reid?

This is exactly the fear-mongering unprofessionalism that we need to weed out in our EGO’s (Elected Government Officials). Honestly, I expect 6 year olds to call each other names, but this is what we get from our politicians? Their stunted-growth childishness only proves my point that they all need a Rorschach Test before they run.

Obama Admin. moves to change rules midstream in ‘unclassified’ case

Do you remember the movie What About Bob where Richard Dreyfuss played a Psychiatrist and Bill Murray stared as the likable, somewhat multiphobic patient, to say the least. In the movie, Dr. Leo Marvin writes a best selling book titled, Baby Steps suggesting that any illness can be cured if only taken one step at a time. Having spent years studying the suicide of my father, the term was not new to me. As a part of my 21st Century Survival course, I brake down a 24 hour day into 72 20 minute segments I call 20 Minute Victories. As a part of the study the question is asked, “What can I do, right now, for the next 20 minutes to move me closer to, not farther away from my goal?” In both the goal achieving and survival scenarios, there is no more important concept.

Sadly, the concept of baby steps and 20 Minute Victories can work for ill as well.

A perfect example of this can be found in a must-read article today by Stephan C. Webster over at The Raw Story with the title, Obama admin. claims right to censor ‘unclassified’ materials. In a thumb nail, the case against a former National Security Agency (NSA) big-wig Thomas A. Drake took a strange turn when attorneys from the Obama administration claimed that the Classified Information Procedures Act (CIPA) and the National Security Agency Act of 1959 (NSAA) could be used in a criminal case that deals with the passing of ‘unclassified’ information.

‘Unclassified’ information, treated in a particular instance as ‘classified’ information just to make the government’s case easier to prosecute? Are you kidding? They can now rewrite the rules, midstream as they see fit?

When government attorneys attempt to circumvent and stretch laws to fit their needs, throwing the concept of Due Process and our Constitution under the bus, it should give us all a wakeup call. That the government, bureaucrats and attorneys already stretch and pervert the meanings of the Commerce, Supremacy and General Welfare clauses of our Constitution, now they can waltz into court and creatively violate the original intent of certain statutes just to fit their needs.

When will we all finally say enough? As government officials slowly, methodically chip away at our rights, when bureaucratic baby steps are taken to strip our rights–hoping we will not notice–when government attorneys attempt to alter the rules as they go along, when will it be too much for you to take?

Federal government victimizes States’ Rights once again

Our great Republic was founded on the idea of voting with your feet. Our founders realized for our new government to be successful, we needed to be political nomads. If we didn’t like the laws, mandates, rules, restrictions of one state, we could move to another. Pretty intuitive actually. In that the human race is nothing if not nomadic, wandering is in our DNA. What better way to thrive in the expression of our natural and unalienable rights than to do as Nature does, move to suit your fancy. A pursuit is just that, a chase and it is one of the powerful yet delicate beauties of the 10th Amendment to Our Constitution.

Now we see, once again, the perfection of individual states being the ideal testing-grounds for the rule of law is under attack by the federal government in general and specifically the NLRB. The National Labor Relations Board has decided to punish the Boeing Corporation for choosing to open a plant, a plant that brings real employment (not shovel ready jobs), to Charleston, South Carolina, one of 22 right-to-work-states. Funny, in a state that does not force its workers to join a union, the Obama Administration and the NLRB is now forcing Boeing to force workers into unions. Force is force, is it not? Now that’s some “free market” alright.

The folks in the Palmetto State seem smart enough to me to make that decision for themselves.

The NLRB will not force Boeing to play buy its rules, it will simply pressure the company to vote with its feet. Odd in that it is forcing it to do tomorrow exactly what it is chastising the manufacturer for doing today.

When will it finally be too much? When will the federal government finally overstep its bounds once and for all? Better yet, when will we stop bending over and taking it yet again?

Survival is all about Attitude

As I always remind interviewers, survival is about human grit, not about humping gear. Though some “toys” are of aid, survival and self-reliance is more mindset than mechanical, it’s more temperament than space-age technology. Though survival is my profession, politics is my passion. That said, survival (both wilderness and political) is about attitude, not appliances, a belief in yourself as a human being, a personal understanding that you can survive almost anything fate throws at you. Survival is a belief set.

Great story about in the news today about a 56 year-old Canadian woman lost for seven weeks in northern Nevada wilderness and survives…only enhances my point.

As many of you know, there are not a ton of government assistance programs that I am a fan of; a charitable people are always more powerful. Even in emergency situations there is no stronger force than the compassion, grit and drive of the American People. To that end, I would like to quickly introduce you to a group of passionate, driven women that are doing what they can to help those in need following the devastating storms the last few days in the south.

Though some of you may not agree totally with their politics, you have to dig their passion! On their blog at TWISTERS you will find a substantial list of ways that you can help, right now, today to make a considerable difference in the lives of those hurting this morning in Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi.

Miracle: 3 Teens Cheat Death after 50 days Adrift at Sea

3 New Zealand Teens, thought dead, survived nearly two months adrift in the Pacific ocean. Drinking rainwater, eating raw fish and a seagull allowed them to survive in their tiny aluminum boat for 50 days. The 3 young men, 15 year olds Samuel Pelesa and Filo Filo and Edward Nasau, 14 survived against amazing circumstances and are now the talk of the Tokelau islands, New Zealand and the rest of the world.

Surprising nearly everyone–their families had conducted memorial services–once again they proved that lost doesn’t mean lost for good.

The ultimate beauty of this story should serve to teach us all that survival, grit and determination are latent in human beings, that we can truly survive when outstanding odds are stacked against us. We may not be comfortable, we may get a little cold and hungry or a bit warm and thirsty, we may even fill with boredom, panic and fear, but we can survive. We can all have faith in our fortitude, it’s a part of who we are.

You and I are a the product of thousands and thousands of years of walking. Be it out of Eden or Africa we walked out into wilderness full of challenges, hardships and threats to our very existence, and yet we survived . Humans, if nothing else, are survivors.

Endowed By Their Creator says it All

“Endowed by Their Creator” says it all, even if President Obama forgets to mention it. Now in fairness, we’ve all forgotten a word, a line or maybe a sentence while speaking in public. For many, talking before large groups can be a bit unnerving, to say the very least. Even for a President, it’s got to be tough working off a teleprompter. Though many are refusing to cut him any slack, I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt. What is important, I believe, is the discussion his speech and major omission sparked; it highlights a line in the sand, if you will. All discussions of the government’s role, of Freedom, Liberty, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights can be distilled to one question.

Are your most natural, organic, “Unalienable rights” gifted to you by a democracy or The Divine, by a government or God?

When Thomas Jefferson opened the Declaration of Independence, “We hold these truths to be self-evident: That all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness…” it was to counter the prevailing belief in the Divine Right of Kings. Today, do you believe that the transmission of those rights is reserved for only those in governmental power, or does that the transmission knows no such restrictions?

Ironic, in that at the time it sadly and regretfully didn’t apply to slaves and woman yet it is the essence of the words we strive to remember, not the shortcomings of its authors.

I have often used the term “Buried Logic” to highlight those skills, those rights, those properties fundamental to who we are, intertwined with our souls at birth, passed in our DNA if you will. At our core, admittedly dormant at times, liberty is who we are. Beneath our race, color, gender, nationality and varied proclivities and inclinations, we are the essence of freedom.

Pastor Jones and the Quran Burning Proves He is a Charlatan

If Terry Jones and his happy crew at the Dove World Outreach Center were planning on making a statement, I assumed that he was doing so based on his religious convictions. Today I’m hearing that a call from the White House might make him change his mind.

So let me get this straight. He believes, according to his website, “God is Calling” and that his warped motivation comes from the Divine? But now, if the head of our Government calls him, he’s going to ignore God?

For the record, his motivation is anything but Heaven sent. I’m simply asking that if he believed it to be so, how can a call from the “Big O” change his mind? If it’s of Divine origin, a phone call with the head of the Democratic Party can talk him out of it?

“President Obama on line two.” Are you kidding me?

Terry Jones is both a coward and a charlatan.
