Insect Sting Steals Life of well-known, New York Skateboarder

Published on August 14th, 2009

Well-known New York skateboarding pioneer Andy Kessler, 48, died this week after suffering an allergic reaction to an insect sting. Most of us know the benefits of carrying an antihistamine such as Benadryl with us in our wallet or purse, and in our medical/first aid kits during outdoor adventurers, where those with severe allergies, or those who have had allergic reactions to insects, “should always carry an antihistamine and an epinephrine auto-injector for emergencies” according to a report on CNN.

The American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, the largest professional medical organization in the United States devoted to the allergy/immunology specialty has a pretty creative tool for combating allergies and allergic reactions, called the Virtual Allergist. Seems like a cool tool in an emergency.

In the insect world, big things come in little packages. It’s important to keep in mind just how powerful an impact they can have.

    Thanks Carol.
I was swarmed by a nest of yellow jackets when I was very young and, as a result I suspect, am myself allergic to bee stings.
My best to you, your friend and his family!

This is horrible to happen to anyone but this is what happened to a friend of mine but thank God he didn't die but came so close it was scarey.
He was left in comma for quite a few days but was never the same EVER.

My mother nearly died from a sting of bee so they are very dangerous to people that are allergic (sp) to any kind of bite from any kind of bee or anyother animal.

MAY GOD BLESS HIM AND ENTIRE FAMILY NOW AND FOR ALL TIME AS I AM SURE HE WILL!!!
