Officials are now reporting that Leonard Patrick Gonzalez Jr., 35, one of the 7 cowards held in connection to the murders, not only KNEW THE VICTIMS but had planned the burglary/robbery for nearly a month.
Byrd and Melissa Billings may have been gunned down for reasons in addition to burglary and robbery, according to Sheriff David Morgan of Escambia County. Likening it to a “master’s-level Chess” match, he believes that there are additional twists and turns pending in the investigation. It was Sheriff Morgan that first labeled the case a “humdinger.”
Most times, motive is important to establish in an attempt to identify the suspect(s) in a case. Here, perhaps, the motive helps in searching out additional suspects or those tangentially tied to the killings.
