Living Like You Mean It at The Rally in Albuquerque, New Mexico

Published on April 14th, 2009

For a little over a year now, I’ve been exploring the U.S. in my Lance Camper. Over that time I’ve received some pretty strange questions and stranger looks from non RV’ers. You know the type of inquiries I am speaking of. The slightly cocked head, squinting eyes and lightly-snarled upper lip. “What, are you crazy?” or “You live in that thing full time?” or “You can shower in your RV?” or “You camped out in the parking lot of a WalMart?”  or “You live in ‘that thing’ year round?” or “Why are you slumming it?” to paraphrase another?

It’s as if, to quote the late Saturday Night Live comedian Chris Farley, “I live in a van down by the river.”

FINALLY, I’ve made it here to The Rally in Albuquerque. For the next 5 days or so I will be hanging out with thousands of folks that let their “inner-nomad” out. Hanging with people Living Life Like They Mean It. For the rest of the week I’m anchored in a spot where the inmates are running the asylum.

Crazy? TOTALLY….and I’m going to love every minute of it.

Well said! We get that a lot. We also hear a lot about how crazy we are to be “green” and RVing. Ugh.
