About a month ago, I asked if you ever wondered if our government was trying to get us to “tap out” and submit. Not unlike a Mixed Martial Arts fight, seems as if we are in the Constitutional Cage Match of our life. “Did you ever wonder just how many Federal, State, County, City, Village and Association rules, ordinances, regulations, statutes, executive orders and edicts are on the official books? Just how many laws and court orders are we subject to, living here in the land of the free?”
Ever noticed how weeds can take over your garden or your yard? If you don’t pay close attention, fairly soon you can be overrun. Their encroaching, voracious and nearly insatiable appetite for your green grass is legendary. Politicians and the laws they make are like those pesky, annoying dandelions that never seem to go away without a fight. You pull the yellow heads off, and they just grow back. You gotta get down to the very roots, dig around a bit and get every last bit of the weed. You can’t leave any vestige behind.
There is a great article I found today in The NY Daily News.com by guest contributor, Philip K. Howard, “Drowning in Law: A flood of statutes, rules and regulations is killing the American spirit.”
Mr. Howard, in addition to being an attorney and an author, is chair of Common Good (www.commongood.org), a website that I found as interesting as his article.
