Today is the day. After months of debate and deal cutting, wrangling and arm twisting, political promises and payoffs, the vote is finally here. As the Sunday morning TV news shows begin, Democratic leaders in the House of Representatives say they have the 216, Republicans say they don’t. As party leaders and political pundits on both sides spin us, they’re hunting for the “sleeper” to ruin the day. Steny Hoyer does not know. John Boehner does not know.
You can count on it; they don’t have a hard count.
