Osama bin Laden Photo worth 10,000 words

VIDEO: Today, a select congressional group of Capitol Hill Huggers was invited to view the “kill photo” of Osama bin Laden. Senator Harry Reid decided not to go, calling the photos too “morbid.” Problem is, it’s not up to “Cowboy Poetry” Harry Reid to decide the definition of distasteful for the rest of us. President Obama should release the photos and not fight the FOIA request by major media outlets requesting him to do so. If the photos are too offensive, then look the hell away. But the definition of offensive is yours to decide, not the governments. To those that feel it would further “incite” the terrorists, your kool-aid consumption is so overwhelming, you vision is beginning to fade. Photos, like other forms of truth, should not be squelched by the state. The First amendment protection of a free press should always allow truth into the daylight.

For many years, photographing our fallen soldiers returning in flag-draped coffins to Dover Air Force Base was prohibited. President Bush decided, in 1991 that they we too difficult for the American people to see….just more Bush baloney. Thankfully, President Obama reversed course and now the truth can be told–in photos–of the terribly high cost of war. President Obama should once again, bravely as before, release the Osama bin Laden photos not to settle the debate, but simply because the truth should never be too morbid, or too painful to tell.

VIDEO: With the 2012 election circus already upon us, the full-on political class shenanigans are just beginning. The spin begins in earnest now that the first GOP debate is in the books. If ever there was a time to find common ground in what would normally be considered disparate points of view, this is that time. Big government/big business types are gearing up, it’s time those that believe in limited government do so as well.

In the latest video from Liberty’s Line in the Sand, political analyst Brian Brawdy looks to find points, not of contention, but of common ground betweens Libertarians, Conservatives and political Independents. He finds that much of the acrimony and vitriol focused on the above groups, not always by outsiders, but by members of these very groups, only serves the political establishment and obscures the true culprits of our overall decline.

If you study the photo even briefly, you will see Secretary of State Clinton covering her mouth at one point. Now we get her take on why she did so and it falls into the category of Just How Gullible do They REally Think We Are?

Let’s get over the bin Laden Bait and Switch

VIDEO: With all the clamor and rumor swirling around the demise of bin Laden, it’s now time to switch our focus from the “death shots” to the debt ceiling debate, from the leader of radical islamic terrorism to rising interest our national debt. Funny, in that reports are now suggesting that Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner will ask for a 2 trillion dollar hike in the debt ceiling. Interesting timing; our focus is on the fallen leader of al Qaeda and the feds are looking to put us even deeper into debt, a debt our children and grandchildren will have to shoulder. Now that thought should terrorize and honest human being.

Oh yea, with Ben Bernanke over at the Federal Reserve photoshopping Franklins like it’s going out of style, who would really believe the OBL “death shot photo” any ways? Using a printing press to forge $100.00 bills pretty much makes you an expert at doctoring any photo. It’s time to move on, Mr. President!

There is plenty to talk about today with the announcement by President Obama last evening that a United States Navy Seal team killed Osama bin Laden in his Pakistani hideout. With all the questions and debate running rampant, I have but one thought to add to the discussion. When it comes to a sustained battle with a terrorist mass murderer, sometimes you are better off treating your enemy like an attacking mountain lion. In our future campaigns, we will be better served to remember this natural strategy…

Unalienable rights stem from your unalienable abilities

Most days we discuss our Unalienable Rights here on Liberty’s Line in the Sand. Today, our focus is on the ground from which those natural rights spring forth. Preceding our rights were our unalienable abilities. The strength of the Human mind, passion and body to withstand whatever fate throws at us is legendary. Human Beings have survived varied onslaughts from both man and Mother Nature for 1000s of years, and yet today we still stand and take a punch as good, if not better–much better–than any other animal on our planet. Our innate grit makes us who we are. After a certain stage, we don’t need a nanny state or the patriarchal pariah that our government, at many levels has morphed into.

We help each other in times of both trouble and need, not out of a necessity, threat or coercion–we aid each other–not because we should but because we can. Our thoughts, our guts, our prayers and our meditations go out to the victims and the surviving families of the devastating tornadoes that have wreaked such pain and destruction in the south these last few days.

The Political Bait and Switch

Have you reached the point yet, where you’ve begun to believe that if a politician is talking, he/she is pulling the big bait and switch? If the camera is rolling, their dialogue is all about distraction and diversion, about persuading us to look at anything other than the games behind their words? It’s to the point anymore that you have to look at politics as one big chess match, not a battle between the political parties and their demagogues, but between the power class and the rest of us. Now you can fill in your definition of the power class, big government, big business, big unions…whatever you like, but sooner or later we will all need to wake up and realize we are falling for a street-vendor shell game and the power class is laughing all the way to one of their banks.

Ah, you gotta love a good royal wedding; the pomp, the circumstance and the insanity of it all. Do you find it odd, at all, that a recent report highlights the fact that more Americans are traveling this week to be there for the big gig than folks from any other country? Seems they just can’t wait to see if Kate Middleton, I guess she is not a princess just yet, will borrow Queen Elizabeth II’s priceless diamond tiara for her walk down the aisle. Wow. I’m glued. Second only to wait and see what Prince William will be sporting on the big walk. (As a side note, while typing this paragraph the tag finder keeps offering “Human Interest” as a possible tag. NOT THIS human.

EPA says No Way to Shell Oil in Alaska

The EPA has a unique power in that it exercises its will outside the jurisdiction of your elected officials. Regardless of how you feel about the latest Environmental Protection Agency ruling in Alaska as it pertains to the Shell Company and its offshore drilling permits (details of which are here) the bigger story is that the officials of this particular board are unelected, out of reach apparently of the elected officials you and I put into office.

In this episode of Liberty’s Line in the Sand, Brian looks at some of the particulars and pounds the message home that decisions of this import, when gas prices are climbing daily, when drilling permits are fading just as fast, we need to have a bit more direct access to those making actions of this magnitude.
