Philip and Nancy Garrido, the California couple charged with a combined 29 felony counts in relation to the kidnapping and rape of Jaycee Dugard and holding her in backyard sheds for over 18 years learned from El Dorado County Superior Court Judge Douglas Phimister that Philip Garrido has a bond set at $30 million.

In the Annie Le / Yale homicide investigation police are now focusing in on a suspect.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Police department announce an arrest in the serial killings of nine women over 21 years. Investigators matched Walter E. Ellis, 49, with DNA found on each of the bodies of the nine women killed from 1986 to 2007.

Science  and stubborn determination pays off.

“This case was solved with shoe leather and science,” Police Chief Edward A. Flynn told the news conference. “Continuing advances in DNA technology have enabled us to link these homicide cases, and it was good work pursuing numerous leads that led to the arrest of the suspect.”

According to CNN, the “Milwaukee Police Department’s Homicide Task Force Cold Case Unit poured through evidence that included more than 700 names contained in the nine homicide files, 15,000 sexual assault investigations spanning 23 years and 6,000 prostitution-related cases. They searched the state DNA databank of 125,000 people and a national databank of 6 million people.”

Sadly, horrifically we are now learning that Jaycee Dugard was not the first victim of Phillip Garrido. For a disturbingly tragic yet fascinating report on the history of Garrido the sexual predator, see the story compiled and written by the talented Mallory Simon of CNN.

As this case further unfolds, it is nearly impossible to follow the trail and its facts without totally disgust.

Stealing people off the street, smuggling them to some seclude spot, sexually assaulting them and then shackling them in a shed?

After deliberating for nearly three hours, a Florida jury recommended the death penalty for Michael King, 38, a plumber who kidnapped, raped and murdered a police detective’s daughter. The jury’s unanimous, 12-0 decision was announced just one week after King was convicted of first-degree murder and related offenses in the January 17, 2008, death of Denise Lee, a 21-year-old mother of two boys.

The heartbreaking tape of Denise Lee’s frantic 911 call on her captor’s cell phone no doubt led the jury to its decision. In Florida, the jury “suggests” a verdict to the Judge. The court is expected to uphold the unanimous decision.

According to CNN, experts testified “that scans indicated that King’s brain was abnormally shaped, especially his frontal lobe: the center for logic, planning and reason. His IQ was described as about 76, in the low range. A person with an IQ of 70 is considered to be mentally retarded, according to testimony.”

So, if his perceived sworn duty is to walk into a public place, open fire and recklessly endanger the lives of dozens and kill another human being, it’s time for him to GO. Qualify his mental status, provide him a fair trial, and if convicted, stamp him Return 2 Vendor.

In the opening months of the Return 2 Vendor portion of my website, I have received tremendous comment and feedback, both pro and con, about my position of defective minds being “returned” to their original factory. Death Penalty debaters, on both sides have made their positions clear to me.

As much as I humbly respect and bow to His Holiness the Dalai Lama, my sense of compassion is slightly different. A defective and tortured human mind should be retired, put out of its misery with all due speed. Not as a form of punishment or penalty, but as a plan to end its pain, torment and misery.

I know, I’m a horrible, heartless human being to those of you who disagree with me. Sometimes though, in certain cases…compassion is only compassion when it uses its teeth.

Was the earlier reported “unnatural pose” now “arms outstretched” meant to signify a cross? Was she targeted and killed because she was a religious figure? Were the wounds to her left breast an attack on her heart?  These are just some of the questions that the FBI criminal profiler, brought in for this case, will be addressing.

The reward for information in the case is now $15,000.

Her “voice filled the courtroom as her desperate 911 call was played to the jury” according to the CNN report.

Every time you think we have hit a new human low, you read of cases like this one.

An 11 year old California girl, abducted in 1991 by a convicted sex offender, was repeatedly raped, impregnated at least twice and held in a secret 10 x 10 backyard shed, authorities announced yesterday.

Phillip and Nancy Garrido are now being held on $1 million bail, charged with kidnapping and conspiracy. The victim, Jaycee Dugard, reportedly doing well and is cooperating with the investigation.

Phillip Garrido, on parole in 1991, had been convicted of multiple charges including forcible rape.

What a nightmare. Imagine the pain. Forced to bare and raise her abductors children? Kept in a backyard shed? What about the untold pain for Jaycee’s parents over all of these years? How about the trauma to the two girls, now 15 and 11?

Just how low can we go on the new-human-low scale?

This is absolutely the type of defective, demented human DNA that needs to be removed from our gene pool. NO Question!

That said, this case has striking similarities to the the 2002 Salt Lake City abduction and imprisonment of Elizabeth Smart.

The suspects in her case, two other religious fanatics, Brian David Mitchell and Wanda Ileen Barzee were eventually found incompetent to stand trial on charges of Kidnapping, Sexual Assault and Burglary.

The Associated Press is reporting that the Pastor’s body was “put into unnatural pose.”

Though there are some “promising leads” there are no suspects in this brutal murder, according to Police.

Obviously, and understandably, pastors and parishioners in the area are terrified. Regardless of the ultimate motive, terrorizing the local population is a part of the killer(s) plan.
