Ahmadinejad taking a page from the play book of Kim Jong-il

Do you find it at all curious, that the first reported “bombing” in Tehran this weekend is an alleged detonation at a shrine? Shocker!

According to Aljazeera, “At least one person has been killed after a suspected suicide bomber reportedly blew himself up near the shrine of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the leader of Iran’s 1979 Islamic revolution.”

To distract from his political unrest, and any heartache about his successor, Kim Jong-il taunts the rest of the world with his nuclear program. Attempting to rally support via a call to patriotism or theism is a universal motif. The first thing a repressive dictator or regime does to quell dissent? Rally the disenfranchised to fight a devil. This morning, we see in Tehran that attacking a temple, especially the shrine of the revered Ayatollah Khomeini, should serve  to rally support from hard-liners against the protesters.

In his prayer/speech on Friday, the current Ayatollah moved to blame the United States, the United Kingdom and Israel for the social chaos. Apparently, when that failed, and it did, the next best thing was to look for the evil within. Want to incite your faithful, target the shrine of their Imam.

The “Supreme Leader” is busy searching for a Satan. Absent an aspirin factory, Ahmadinejad found him the next best thing.

All over the world and throughout history, a relatively small group of insane, greedy, cruel and ignorant men have lorded it over masses of people. It is past time for this deplorable state of affairs to end. The people matter, freedom and liberty matter to these brave citizens of the world. More power to all those ordinary people who do extraordinary things to rout and defeat these senile, clueless and dangerous ‘leaders’. Whether in Iran or elsewhere, the men and women who face up to cruelty and these greedy old bastards need to be applauded and supported for facing death, torture and incarceration for the right to live free.
