A Special “Thank You” to CNN’s Fareed Zakaria

Published on May 28th, 2009

Are you as tired, as I am, of the “B word?”

President Obama used it just the other day, as did V.P. Biden, and in a public appearance nonetheless.  Hillary Clinton throws the “B word” around whenever she can. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi used it just before she flew off to China to escape questioning in regards to accusations about the CIA misleading her. I’m not sure who to pick as the head of the Republican Party, that said, I’ve heard Colin Powell, Rush Limbaugh, Newt Gingrich, former Vice President Cheney and Michael Steele use it multiple times of late. News anchors and talk show hosts from every network are joining in, as are bloggers from all corners. Elected officials of every ilk fall over themselves to drop the “B bomb” whenever there is an open mic or a live audience.

Seems like the “B word” is here to stay.

For me, every time I hear a politician use the word “Bipartisanship” my skin begins to crawl. Do they really believe you and I are that gullible? Just how naive do we appear?  Sounds nice, two parties setting aside their differences and working together for the common good. What am I, an idiot? It’s not like the rest of us can’t spot the megalomania from miles away. Sadly Power to the Party replaced Power to the People a long time ago.

I’d so much rather they just truthfully admit that politics is about power, partisan power. Period. One party has it, the other party wants it and each will do or say anything to keep or get it. Politics is a contact sport. You take the oath. You go to war.

Before I go, my thanks to Fareed Zakaria of CNN. I have enjoyed watching his show GPS (Global Public Square) for some time now. He is intelligent, respectful to his guests and offers a unique perspective. So, I went and purchased a copy of his book, The Post- American World. Great book. In it, Mr. Zakaria quotes China’s Deng Xiaoping, “It doesn’t matter if it is a black cat or a white cat, as long as it can catch mice, it’s a good cat.”

I don’t care, and I suspect you don’t either, whether it is a republican cat or a democratic cat, a liberal cat or a conservative cat as long as they can get the job done. Stop insulting us with the “B word”, get to pouncing and go catch some freaking mice.

your right on with this. I am currently reading his book, but I can't keep up with his weekly recommendations. I read "The Ayatollah Begs to Differ" and it was, as he suggested an enjoyable and informative read. Always niice to hear from you. Keep digging for the Buried Logic!
